FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/01/09

Life is what you make it...It's up to you......Your life will be as you truly desire it to be....Full of life , or death....It's up to you

Deuteronomy 30:15-19
15 Look at what I've done for you today: I've placed in front of you .Life and Good Death and Evil.
16 And I command you today: Love God, your God. Walk in his ways. Keep his commandments, regulations, and rules so that you will live, really live, live exuberantly, blessed by God, your God, in the land you are about to enter and possess.

17-18 But I warn you: If you have a change of heart, refuse to listen obediently, and willfully go off to serve and worship other gods, you will most certainly die. You won't last long in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.  19-20 I call Heaven and Earth to witness against you today: I place before you Life and Death, Blessing and Curse. Choose life so that you and your children will live. And love God, your God, listening obediently to him, firmly embracing him. Oh yes, he is life itself, a long life settled on the soil that God, your God, promised to give your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The phrase hoilier than thou has gotten a bad rap. It gives us the impression of arrogance. I know that's what the saying means. However, as believers we are supposed to be holier than non-believers. We have gotten so off track. We are so busy trying to relate to the world, that we've become just like them. It's because of this fact that the world is not impressed with the Church today. As a whole, we have brought the carnality of the world into the Church instead of bringing the holiness of the Gospel into the carnality of the world. We are sending people to hell for our lack of holiness. We have allowed ourselves to become an entity that is more concerned with entertainment than righteousness. We look to market our ministries to make them more attractive than sanctified. We operate in fear instead of faith meaning this; we are so afraid to lose members that we pamper folk and tickle their ears with what's popular in opposed to what's truth. God is not pleased!

1 Peter 1:13-21 (The Message)

13-16  So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that's coming when Jesus arrives. Don't lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn't know any better then; you do now. As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God's life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, "I am holy; you be holy."  17  You call out to God for help and he helps—he's a good Father that way. But don't forget, he's also a responsible Father, and won't let you get by with sloppy living.  18-21  Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. He paid with Christ's sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb. And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately—at the end of the ages—become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you. It's because of this sacrificed Messiah, whom God then raised from the dead and glorified, that you trust God, that you know you have a future in God.

Whenever you lose patience, you lose the war......

Matthew 10:22 (The Message)

21-23  When people realize it is the living God you are presenting and not some idol that makes them feel good, they are going to turn on you, even people in your own family. There is a great irony here: proclaiming so much love, experiencing so much hate! But don't quit. Don't cave in. It is all well worth it in the end. It is not success you are after in such times but survival. Be survivors! Before you've run out of options, the Son of Man will have arrived.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/05/09

Pray to God....but keep rowing to the shore.....

James 2:14-17 (New International Version)  14  What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15  Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16  If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/06/09

DId you hear it? Well, did you do it after you heard it? If you didn't, may I ask why not? I'm just sayin'.....

James 1:20-26 (The Message)  19-21  Post this at all the intersections, dear friends: Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear. God's righteousness doesn't grow from human anger. So throw all spoiled virtue and cancerous evil in the garbage. In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life. 22-24  Don't fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don't act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like. 25-26   But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/07/09   There are a couple of principles we can live by....The first, is to be in control of your spirit at all times ; the second, is to look at things straight in the eye, and recognize them for what they truly are....

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (Contemporary English Version)

24  You know that many runners enter a race, and only one of them wins the prize. So run to win! 25  Athletes work hard to win a crown that cannot last, but we do it for a crown that will last forever. 26  I don't run without a goal. And I don't box by beating my fists in the air. 27  I keep my body under control and make it my slave, so I won't lose out after telling the good news to others.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/08/09
If the door is closed....Go thru the window....Never quit....

Luke 11:7-8 (Contemporary English Version) 7  And suppose your friend answers, "Don't bother me! The door is bolted, and my children and I are in bed. I cannot get up to give you something." 8  He may not get up and give you the bread, just because you are his friend. But he will get up and give you as much as you need, simply because you are not ashamed to keep on asking.     FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/09/09

Troubles and trials are just like babies....The more you nurse them, the more they grow.....

John 16:33 (Amplified Bible)

33  I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]

FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/10/09

Why are you allowing yourself to be a meal for the enemy? Things will happen...The devil is always busy....

1 Peter 5:8-10 (Contemporary English Version) 8  Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack. 9    But you must resist the devil and stay strong in your faith. You know that all over the world the Lord's followers are suffering just as you are. 10   But God shows undeserved kindness to everyone. That's why he appointed Christ Jesus to choose you to share in his eternal glory. You will suffer for a while, but God will make you complete, steady, strong, and firm.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/11/09

What's really important is not how much time you put in, but how much you put in the time.....

Prov 6: 6-11 (The Msg)
6-11
You lazy fool, look at an ant. Watch it closely; let it teach you a thing or two. Nobody has to tell it what to do. All summer it stores up food; at harvest it stockpiles provisions. So how long are you going to laze around doing nothing? How long before you get out of bed?A nap here, a nap there, a day off here, a day off there, sit back, take it easy—do you know what comes next? Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor life, poverty your permanent houseguest!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/12/09

Over the years we've gotten confused about something. We are not human beings trying to be spiritual....We are spiritual creations being human....

Genesis 1:27 (New International Version)  27   So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;  male and female he created them.

John 4:24 (Amplified Bible) 24  God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/13/09

You know, we're not meant to fit in, we're meant to stand out.....

1 Peter 2:9 (Contemporary English Version) 9  But you are God's chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things that he has done.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/14/09

Whoever truly loves, believes the impossible....

1 Corinthians 13:1-10 (The Message) 1 Corinthians 13 The Way of Love  1 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. 2   If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. 3-7   If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.  Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. he doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut,  Doesn't have a swelled head, oesn't force itself on others,   Isn't always "me first," Doesn't fly off the handle,  Doesn't keep score of the sins of others, Doesn't revel when others grovel,   Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. 8-10     Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.     FOOD FOR THOUGHT 03/15/09

Knowing about the truth and knowing the truth are two different things....When I know the truth freedom comes....When I know about the truth bondage remains....

John 8:27-32 (The Message)  27-29  They still didn't get it, didn't realize that he was referring to the Father. So Jesus tried again. "When you raise up the Son of Man, then you will know who I am—that I'm not making this up, but speaking only what the Father taught me. The One who sent me stays with me. He doesn't abandon me. He sees how much joy I take in pleasing him."  30  When he put it in these terms, many people decided to believe.
31-32  Then Jesus turned to the Jews who had claimed to believe in him. "If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you."
